How it works
Three steps. No PC. No favors from the system tech.
- Goes back, not just forwardV2232 back to V1455. SD & Q Convert can't take a session to older software.
- Kept, changed, lostA plain report with every file. Nothing gets dropped quietly.
- Every SD and Quantum16 desks, Pulse too. It asks when two desks share a file.
- Nothing to installRuns in the browser. Your files are deleted after a day.
Convert a DiGiCo session to older software
The session came from a desk on V2232 and the console at the venue runs V1926. DiGiCo's SD & Q Convert moves sessions forward and between models, but not back. Here you drop the .ses, pick the older version and download a file that console opens, with a report of anything the older software can't hold.
Need to change it too?
It's the same tool as the DiGiCo Session Maker. Change names, gain, EQ, dynamics, sends and patch on the console view before you convert, or build a whole session from an input list.
FAQ
DiGiCo Session Converter questions
What is the DiGiCo Session Converter?
A free web tool. Drop a .ses saved on newer DiGiCo software and download a copy written for an older version, so it opens on the console the rental shop sent. It runs in your browser. No offline editor, no Windows PC.
Is this DiGiCo's SD Convert?
No. SD & Q Convert is DiGiCo's free Windows app. It moves a session to another console model, or up to the software a console runs, but it can't take a session back to older software. This converter runs in your browser and does exactly that: it writes the session for an older version, with a report. It's not made by or affiliated with DiGiCo.
How do I convert a DiGiCo session to an older software version?
Drop the .ses on this page. It opens on a console view with the converter already open. Pick the version your console runs and download. The new file is named <session>_V<version>.ses and comes with a report of what was kept, changed and lost.
Which software versions can it convert to?
Any version from V2232 back to V1455 that the console has and that is older than the session. It only offers versions that exist for that desk, so you can't pick one your console never ran.
Why won't my console open a session from newer software?
A DiGiCo console opens sessions saved by its own software version or older, never newer, and SD & Q Convert can't go backwards. Convert the session to the version on your console first.
What gets lost when I convert to older software?
Only what the older software doesn't have, and the report lists every item. Examples: the Levelling Amp becomes the Optical comp below V2232, macro commands added in V2232 are dropped, and some dynamics settings are clamped to the older range. Everything else carries over.
Which consoles does it work with?
Every SD and Quantum console: SD5, SD5 CS, SD7, SD8, SD9, SD10, SD11, SD12, Quantum 112, 225, 225 Pulse, 326/338, 338 Pulse, 5, 7 and 852. Where two desks share a session file, like SD9 and SD11, it asks which one you're on.
Can it convert a session to a different DiGiCo console?
Not yet. Today it converts to older software for the same console. For a different console model, DiGiCo's SD & Q Convert does that on a Windows PC.
Will the converted session load on my console?
Every version on the list was tested by loading converted sessions in DiGiCo's own offline editor for that version. Still, open the file in that offline editor and save it there before it goes on a console, at prep, not at doors.
Is it free?
Yes, free and given as is, at your own risk. It's built by a touring FOH engineer in Nashville, for the road.
