Made for fun and given as is. Open every file in VENUE Standalone and check it before it goes near a console. We're not responsible for any damage to a console, a show file or a show.
How it works
Three steps. No PC. No favors from the system tech.
- Plug-ins, offlineEvery rack slot, its insert point, and its settings where the show stores them readably.
- Looks like VENUEInputs, Outputs, Snapshots, Patchbay and Plug-Ins, drawn after the real screen.
- Tested in VENUEEvery change and build is tested: a show with it loaded in VENUE 8.2 Standalone with Filing > Load and every value read back the same.
- Gone in 24 hoursYour files are deleted after a day. No account, no install.
See your plug-in settings before soundcheck
VENUE Standalone shows a plug-in as offline and nothing more. Here every used slot in all five racks shows the plug-in, where it's inserted and whether its settings are readable. Open one and you get every setting the show stored, plus the snapshots that appear to keep their own copy (read from the show, not yet checked against VENUE). It's a plain panel, not the plug-in's own window, and it works on your phone.
What's proven today
Reading: the plug-in racks and plug-in settings are checked against real shows and Avid's own documents, and names, faders and colours against VENUE. Snapshots, the input patch, EQ, dynamics and sends are read where the data fits, and carry a ? on screen until they're checked against VENUE. Writing: on VENUE 8.2 shows from an E6L-192 with no snapshots you can rename inputs and outputs, move faders, set colours and take out a plug-in inserted on an input, group or matrix, or one that isn't routed, and an E6L-192 show at 8.2 can be built from your list. Each one is tested in VENUE 8.2 Standalone: a show we wrote loaded with Filing > Load, every change showed on VENUE's pages, and VENUE's own save of it read back the same. VENUE 7.2 and 7.0 shows stay read-only until VENUE Standalone of their own version loads the files we write, and other engines wait for a load test of their own. Everything else stays read-only for now.
Mixing on something else?
The DiGiCo Session Maker, the dLive Show Maker and the Yamaha Show Maker do the same job for those desks.
FAQ
S6L Show Maker questions
What is the S6L Show Maker?
A free web tool for Avid VENUE | S6L shows. Drop a .dsh show and it opens in your browser on a screen drawn after VENUE: Inputs, Outputs, Snapshots, the Patchbay and all five plug-in racks.
Can I see my plug-in settings without the console?
Yes, for a lot of plug-ins. VENUE Standalone can't show plug-in settings, because it doesn't run plug-ins. Many plug-ins, the Avid Channel Strip and the Pro series among them, save their settings in a format Avid documents, so we show every setting by name with the value the show stored. Others, like Waves SoundGrid Rack, keep their own format. Those show as stored, and we keep them byte for byte.
What does each rack slot show?
The plug-in's name, where it's inserted, and a badge: settings readable, settings stored, or no settings stored. Open a slot to see its settings and which snapshots appear to keep their own copy (marked ?, not yet checked against VENUE), so you know which recall may put old settings back.
Can it change my show?
A few things, on VENUE 8.2 shows from an E6L-192 engine that have no snapshots: input and output names, faders, colours, and taking a plug-in out of a rack slot when it's inserted on an input, a group or a matrix, or not routed. Each one is tested in VENUE 8.2 Standalone: a show we wrote loaded with Filing > Load, every change showed on VENUE's pages, and VENUE's own save of it read back the same. Still, load what you download in VENUE Standalone and check it before a show. Shows from VENUE 7.2 and 7.0, shows from other engines and shows with snapshots stay read-only for now. So do the patch, EQ, dynamics, sends, mutes, the mains of an L-C-R show, placing plug-ins, and plug-ins inserted on an aux, fed from a bus or keyed from a sidechain. Clicking one tells you why.
Which file do I drop?
The .dsh file from the show's folder on your VENUE USB stick, in D-Show/Consoles/VENUE/Shows. S6L shows from VENUE 5 and later open on the full screen. Shows from D-Show, Profile, SC48 and S3L-X get a read-only summary.
Which VENUE versions work?
Shows saved by VENUE 7.0, 7.2 and 8.2 open. Changes are open on 8.2 shows only. 7.2 and 7.0 shows open read-only until VENUE Standalone of their own version has loaded the files we write. If your console runs VENUE 8.2, you can load an older show in VENUE 8.2 Standalone, save it, and drop the saved show; that saved show then needs VENUE 8.2 on the console. A show from another version still opens, with a note on screen saying so.
What does the ? next to a value mean?
We read that value from your show and it makes sense, but we haven't checked it against VENUE yet. A value we can't read yet shows as a dash, never a guess.
Can I build an S6L show from my input list?
Yes, for an E6L-192 engine on VENUE 8.2. Drop the list, fix the names, and Build writes a .dsh with your input names, 16 characters each. Patch, stereo, colours and 48V stay at VENUE's defaults. Other engines wait for a clean show saved in VENUE Standalone for each one.
Is it safe for my show?
Your own file never changes. A change makes a new copy on the server, and the download is that copy, after it passes our show check. Uploads are deleted after 24 hours and never shared. It's a free side project, given as is, so always load a show in VENUE Standalone and check it before it goes near a console.
Is it free, and is it made by Avid?
It's free. It's not made by or affiliated with Avid. It's built by a touring FOH engineer in Nashville, for the road.
